What is the primary purpose of the COGIC Department of Women?

The main idea here is the role and mission of the COGIC Department of Women within the church. The department exists to nurture and empower women so they can actively participate in spiritual life, take on leadership roles, and serve in church ministries, all while staying in line with COGIC doctrine and bylaws. This framing shows the focus on growth, leadership development, and service anchored in the church’s teachings and governance. Fundraising for missions can be part of church work, but it’s too narrow to capture the department’s broader purpose of equipping women for spiritual growth, leadership, and service. Publishing doctrinal journals isn’t the department’s main aim either, even though doctrine guides its work. Training youth for athletic programs is outside the primary focus of this ministry.
