Which church is described as the persecuted church?

Persecution and enduring pressure from the outside world is what this church is known for in the Revelation letters. Smyrna is described as facing tribulation and suffering, even poverty, with encouragement to stay faithful through the trials. The message isn’t about condemnation for spiritual compromise; it’s about perseverance under persecution, with a promise of the crown of life for those who remain faithful unto death. That contrast helps distinguish Smyrna from the others, whose descriptions focus on spiritual complacency, counterfeit appearances, or materialism rather than active persecution. So, the church described as the persecuted one is Smyrna.
